Description: Leonard Samuel Burton was Gawler Councillor for North Ward in 1880 to 1883, and was elected Mayor of Gawler from 1884 to 1885 and again in 1888. He was then elected Gawler Councillor for North Ward 1892 to 1895. He was the Principal of the Gawler Model School which ultimately became named as Gawler Primary School. He died aged 71.
