Justin Dallas Kurzel was born 3 August 1974 in Gawler, South Australia.
In 1999, Kurzel was awarded a Mike Walsh Fellowship. His debut movie was titled “Blue Tongue"; released in 2004. Kurzel’s feature debut, "Snowtown” was highly regarded. Kurzel won the AACTA Award for Best Direction for “Snowtown” in 2011.
Kurzel has since gone on to direct a film adaption of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” (2015), and video game adaption “Assassin’s Creed” (2016) An upcoming feature directed by Kurzel; “True History of the Kelly Gang” is scheduled for release in 2020.
Justin Kurzel is married to actress Essie Davis.
